Oh my

Well I haven't been very good at this have I.....

A quick update - We have moved, or should I say are in the process of moving from Rochester to Denver Colorado - I'm Alright Jack got a new job with a friend in Denver in November so we got rid of the flat - shipped off our belongings and headed back to the UK for Christmas.

Christmas was fun catching up with family and friends and now with all our furniture in a tanker ready to be delivered to a home we haven't found yet...more on that later.

I set off on the 18th with my friend and her 3 children - one which will have to sit on my knee for a 9h 50min journey from London Ahhh I must be mad!

Will try and get some posts in before then on the last few weeks in NY, I think I may have to rename my blog too any ideas guys?

Things to do in Rochester, NY!

Happy accidents sometime happen, we were in the below coffee place talking to some locals about the turtles and they recommended visiting an old Shaker farm.

Now I missunderstood and though the shakers were still there, but when we got there it seemed desserted, other than happy animals, so we piled on in and got chatting to a volunteer named Leo, he was walking a horse named Handsome (and he was!) around a pen getting him use to noise and weight.

He chatted to us and offered to show us around, AND MY what a fantastic place!

It was an old Shaker farm which was purchase when they were going to put a canal in between lake Ontario & Rochester (i think)
Anyway the canal never went ahead and the farm was offered back to the Shakers but they had already relocated.

So it fell into the hands of the present owners family, we met one of the family Griff who gave us a brief history, while sat on the most amazing 3 wheel bike with his two Doggies Sadie & Sophie, everyone was so friendly even the animals, farm & domestic!

Sophie & Sadie

Looking on was Bob the goat with a skin condition, he gets to wear a sweatshirt to help him! too cute.

Now the farm takes in animals in need, abandoned or if the owners can no longer look after them, they have a home here, it is such a lovely place you can go take a picnic, see the animals, just take a look at some of them below:

It also has a shaker barn filled with shaker finds:

For more photos please see my Flickr site as there were so many lovely things to be seen! and check out their website too!
I had to add this little kitty though as he was sooooooo cute, aparently hes a three strokes and your attacked but he liked me, I think he's been unfairly judge....though I only stroked him once, hey I'm not stupid!

tiger!

www.crackerboxpalace.org is such a wonderful, non profit animal farm, opened in 2000, home to over 200 surrendered, abused, abandoned and neglected farm animals from Wayne county and surrounding area.

Great place to visit....try it!
